We don't have much of that her in or country, but from what I have gathered it's not so bad if you find the right one to be a part of. There is usually a six to eight week period for new pledges to assess whether the sorority is the right fit. Look past the make up/money/chapter stereotype. I see changes over time in AXiD and think they're not going to stay down for much longer. ,My biggest piece of advice is to go into recruitment at UT with an OPEN MINDI cannot stress this enoughplease try not to listen to other girls and thier opinions of the houses, especially if they are negative. For instance, nationally ChiO is "Make-A-Wish" and DG is "Service for Sight." DG has been dropping for last few years. They are not regarded as nicebut not outright nasty either. It is probably true that it depends on the chapter, but most of your impressions are pretty accurate. Usually need connections but if you are outgoing/pretty enough with a little bit of luck you can get in. "They will always be bottom" is what everyone said about APhi 15-18 years ago when they were literally stuck in a hole that was lower than AXiD! Those who say that AXiD will always be bottom don't have their eyes open on this one. I'm not a member of either, but I read it and thought "Wow, somebody doesn't like the Pi Phis". At this point I have to assume you have already submitted all of your letters of recommendations and done the required paper work for recruitment. Kappa Delta: Was a bottom tier. the price is about 250 a semester compared to 2,000 for a sorority. KD Delta Gamma: Ten years ago they were a lot stronger of a house than they are now. My fear is that rather than focusing on things you can control (conversation skills, brushing up your resume, getting recs in order, rush wardrobe, grooming) you are looking for something that quite frankly, you are going to have very little control over at all.
